Go GEMs Go!

With the river dyed a brilliant blue and Ws flying everywhere, the World Champion Chicago Cubs certainly brought historic levels of spirit, joy and excitement to the Windy City in October. But the Cubs weren’t the only champs who were celebrated last month. HCM announced the latest winners of its GEM Awards, recognizing employees who Go the Extra Mile in their jobs and bring their own upbeat spirit and positive impact to our workplace.

The Human Capital Media MVPs for October were Kevin Fields, director of business development; Lauren Lynch, digital manager; and Anna Jo Beck, editorial art director.

These three stand-outs all played pivotal roles in the launch of HCM’s newest imprint, Talent Economy, and — to keep the baseball theme going — pitched in on a wide variety of projects across the organization. Their stellar work ethic and enthusiasm for excellence is widely known. But there are some things about these GEM winners that maybe you didn’t know.

Did you know Kevin Fields is an inveterate world traveler? Early in his career he had the opportunity to experience the cultures of many world-class cities, including Paris, Munich, London, Barcelona, Hong Kong and Toronto. Guess that explains his savoir faire

You probably knew that Lauren Lynch is an avid sports fan. But did you know where her love of sport came from? She grew up going to baseball games with her grandfather and cousins. She says watching the Cubs win the World Series with them was “awesome!”

Did you know Anna Jo Beck wanted to be a veterinarian when she was growing up in Grantfork, a rural community in Southern Illinois? She shifted her career aspirations to art when she learned she’d have to give animals shots! That change in course led her to The Art Institute of Boston and eventually to designing attractive and engaging content for HCM.

At HCM, we are lucky indeed to have these GEM winners on our team. They hit it out of the park every day!
